Born January 12, 1953, in Moscow.
From 1964 to 1967, studied at the Moscow Arts High School of the Surikov Moscow Arts Institute. 
From 1968 to 1972, studied at the 1905 Memorial Moscow Oblast Arts Institute, in the industrial graphics and advertising department. 
From 1973 to 1976, studied at the Moscow Printing Institute (the artistic-technical print design faculty), but didn’t graduate.
From the early 1970s, published samizdat books and albums. 
From 1976 to 1983, was a participant in the Collective Actions group. In 1979, was one of the organizers of the Moscow Archive of New Art.
From 1982 to 1984, was one of the founders and the director of the АРТART Gallery, located in a single-room apartment on Ulitsa Dm. Ulyanova.
From 1986 to 1987, was a participant in the concerts of the Central Russian Upland and Pop Mechanics groups.
Nominee for the 2009 Innovation state prize in the sphere of modern art.
Nominee for the 2010 Kandinsky Prize.
